Bay Of Islands Mitre 10 Mega Whangarei Yr 3-4 Rippa Rugby Day

The Mitre10 Mega Whangarei Yr 3-4 Rippa Rugby Day held at the Kerikeri Sports Complex on Thursday 23rd November! A huge thank you to our sponsor Mitre 10 Mega Whangarei for your continued support in our events and helping to support kids in sport!

With 33 x teams in total and around 350 players in attendance, it was a massive day of Rippa in the Bay of Islands. We were really impressed with the wide range of skills, from our competitive through to our social teams getting out there and having a go. It was certainly evident that all students have continued to learn, improve and grow from our first Rippa day back in Term 2. Thanks to all the teachers for running rippa sessions at your school and organising transport and parent help to make these days a success.

There were a lot of fantastic skills, teamwork and effort displayed throughout the day. Not only did we enjoy some of the great tries and attacking displays, but the awesome determination on defence and many of the students not giving up and giving it their all, even in the extremely hot conditions!

Congratulations to the Kaeo Crusaders who were the overall champions in the competitive grade. Kaeo came up against the Kaikohe West Rebels team in the finals. This was a real nail biting game with both teams showing some sublime skills both on attack and defence. However the Kaeo Crusaders (Kaeo Primary School) came out the eventual winners over the Kaikohe West Rebels (Kaikohe West School) 5-4 in what was an epic battle that went down to the wire.

Thanks to all the awesome referees from Matauri Bay. These students were absolutely outstanding. Not only did they do an awesome job refereeing, but their attitude, work ethic and manners were superb! They also looked like they were having lots of fun at the same time! Thanks refs, without you guys there the day wouldn’t have been as awesome as it was!!
